thoughts of Laguna-

hey everyone;

living the life of an artist definitely has been an adventurous ride… every once in while I develop painters block… where staring at blank canvas seems to go on and on,  and the application of paint seems non existence…. not sure where it comes from,  but it it not enjoyable and very frustrating….one way I found to stay fresh and keep my energy flowing is to get away for away for awhile and look at life from another perspective.  Let my batteries recharge. .. Sieglinde and I were recently in Laguna Beach after a long and busy spring…  seeing the ocean and inhaling the salt air was just what I needed to get back in the studio and get paint on my canvas….  Here is a recent abstract inspired by a wonderful recharging weekend…. this is titled, “thoughts of Laguna” .. it is 48 x 36, oil.. hope you all enjoy…. here’s to your own recharging…..

“candle wax”

hey everyone,

hope all is well… been extremely busy lately, …. just finishing our spring ritual;  trying to get organized …lol…. guess spring is upon us…recently finished this piece… it is 48 x48, oil… it is titled “candle wax”.. one of the best things about Las Vegas is its spring evenings, enjoying a fine cigar, glass of wine and candles lighting up the patio….

“the luck of the irish be with you”

Hey everyone;

hope all is well… here is my newest creation.. it is 24 x 36 oil … it is titled  ”Howard” …. I lost my father this past year and St. Patrick’s Day was my fathers favorite holiday and its why I chose to release this new piece on St. Patricks day and celebrate him……. Hope you all enjoy… I’ll have another one out shortly….

2010 is here and we are ready to go!!

2010 is here are we are finally plugged in with some new additions to our website… with all new artwork, our bi weekly posts on twitter and our online auction, we are ready to put our best foot forward.  We been busy creating new pieces for you and can’t wait to show them to you… (not quite yet, their still drying)… besides our abstracts we have created some new figurative pieces we hope you enjoy…. one this is for sure… we are off to a great start… so check back often as we will be posting frequently…. better yet…follow us at twitter.com/artofjames …….. and come along on our journey through the art world… we’d love to have you….

“hollywood’s happy hour”

one thing that I recently noticed  is the way in which we relax has really changed….  I can remember as a kid growing up my parents would come home and have a cocktail to relax…maybe two.. … how times have changed.  … with the recent deaths of some high profile hollywood stars,  its clear the happy hour has taken on a new meaning… no longer is a glass of wine sufficient… we are now having to reach for the oxycodone and the demerol… we have gone from trading a glass of wine to a syringe filled with morphine….. from a gin and tonic  to a couple of swigs of codine cough syrup.. loratabs  and percocets have found there way on our hors d oeuvres trays ….hollywood has definetly redefined happy hour….

here is my latest sculpture…. it is the second in the series of my social commentaries…. this one is called, “hollywoods happy hour” … it is a large marjarita glass filled with syringes,  IV tubing, vials of morphine, bottles of oxycodone, codine cough syrup, demerol, alka seltzer, various pill bottles…… hope you all enjoy.. I will have another one out shortly….
